ABOUT

Bad Girlfriend emerged from the Brooklyn scene in 2008, playing garagey protopunk and upbeat stomp-rock with melodic harmonies, reverb, & lots of vibe; tunes with as much relevance in the mid-to-late sixties as they have today.

Before they were Bad Girlfriends, they were already deeply entrenched in the New York music and social scene. Christian Owens, at the time in Bishop Allen, met Brianna Lance while the two were playing in Tomorrow’s Friends. They clicked and the pair started writing together. Bad Girlfriend was formed when Tomorrow’s Friends disbanded & Christian left Bishop Allen.

With only two weeks before their first show, the girls convinced friend Savannah King, a bassist who had never played in a band before, to join them. Using a rotating cast of drummers, Bad Girlfriend began playing shows all over NYC and soon opened for We Are Scientists at Irving Plaza.

They recorded an EP with producer Johnny Mcknabb and drummers have included Paula Merritt, Merica Moynihan (The Naked Heroes), Keith Murray (We Are Scientists), & Dana Berkowitz.

Bad Girlfriend have toured the East Coast and are currently writing and preparing to enter the studio.
